McClatchy Newspapers installs a consolidated SCC archive for the Carolinas

October 1, 2009

ALPHARETTA, GA., October 1, 2009) -- SCC is pleased to have been selected as the vendor of choice to implement a centralized and consolidated archive for seven McClatchy newspapers in the Carolinas.

The SCC MediaServer system interfaces to the McClatchy Carolinas’ newly installed CCI NewsGate Data Center, to eventually provide users at all seven newspaper sites with a unified publishing and large scale content management experience.

The system provides a bi-directional interface to the CCI NewsGate system and supports the automated archival of multimedia packages consisting of photos, graphics, stories, multimedia and complete newspaper pages. SCC MediaServer also serves as a shared photo workflow system for incoming wire and staff generated photos and graphics.

In addition, SCC MediaServer also delivers content to other technologies both inside and outside McClatchy networks, such as content syndication vendors including Lexis-Nexis, Factiva and NewsBank.

The SCC system will ultimately replace a number of legacy archive systems currently in use throughout the Carolinas group, thereby reducing significantly the annual costs for maintaining duplicate systems.
