The
Bellingham Herald installs SCC MediaServer Content Management System

ALPHARETTA,
GA., (June 12, 2008) -- SCC is pleased to announce the sale of their
SCC MediaServer multimedia content management system to The Bellingham
Herald, WA (circ. 24k [m-sat], 31k [sun]).
The SCC MediaServer system replaces a Digital Collections (DC4) text
and photo archiving system and will serve as the publisher’s primary
news budgeting system, photo, video, graphics and story assignment
system, photo desk for wire and staff generated photos and graphics,
and archive of photos, graphics, stories, multimedia and complete
newspaper pages in Acrobat PDF format.
The MediaServer system supports concurrent client access to SCC MediaGrid
and Web Browser users on both Windows and Macintosh OSX workstations
and will be integrated with the newspapers editorial system. The MediaServer
system also includes the following optional modules:
SCC MediaServer Delivery Module, which supports automatic reformatting
and delivery of files stored within the MediaServer database to a
variety of destinations including web sites and online vendors such
as NewsBank and Lexis- Nexus.
SCC MediaServer Assignment Module, which provides tools for the creation,
editing, tracking and auto-linking of budgets and assignments with
their corresponding photo, graphic, video and story objects, as part
of the production workflow.
The Bellingham Herald installation will be SCC's ninth MediaServer
system sale to the McClatchy Group. SCC has existing MediaServer installations
at the following McClatchy sites: The Idaho Statesman (Boise), The
Charlotte Observer (North Carolina), The Sacramento, Fresno and Modesto
Bees (California), The Anchorage Daily News (Alaska), The Miami Herald
(Florida) and at McClatchy Tribune Information Services (MCT) in Washington
D.C. MCT Information Services make extensive use of the MediaServer
system as their primary text, photo and graphics capture and editing
system, as their syndicated delivery system, and as their multimedia
archive.
